WHERE IS JURY DUTY?

WHAT TIME SHOULD I REPORT FOR JURY DUTY?

On the day of jury duty, please report to the Carroll County Courthouse no later than 9:00 AM.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

Free parking is available in the parking deck adjacent to the courthouse.

IS THERE A DRESS CODE?

Hats other than religious head-coverings are not permitted while in court.

WHAT CAN I BRING WITH ME TO THE COURTHOUSE?

Cell phones are allowed, but please refrain from using these in the courtroom.

WHAT IF I HAVE A LEGITIMATE REASON AS TO WHY I CANNOT SERVE ON JURY DUTY?

Legitimate reasons for jury excusal include the following: Being over 70 years of age; being a single parent of a child[ren] 6 years and under; being mentally or physically disabled; being a full time student; being an active duty member of the military; having vacation plans; being a caregiver for a disabled person 6 years of age and older; and being a homeschool parent.

Employment is not a legal excuse.

To be excused or deferred from Jury Duty, please complete the affidavit linked below and return it to Beth Bryant at bbryant@carrollcountyga.gov. Excusals must be notarized and submitted along with proof. Description of proof required for excusal can be found in the Affidavit PDFs linked below.

WHERE CAN I FIND A NOTARY?

The Clerk's Office at the Carroll County Courthouse is always available to help notarize your Affidavits. You may also be able to find a notary at the Carrollton Library, local UPS stores, City Hall, and banks. Prior to visiting these locations, we recommend that you call them to make sure that a notary is available.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T APPEAR FOR JURY SERVICE?

If you have not been excused from jury duty and fail to appear on your given jury duty date, the Judge may hold you in contempt of court. You may face a fine and jail time.
